J2EE agent encountering "Invalid boundCount" error

    Details

      Description

       There are a couple of recurring tickets in which the Java agent installer is encountering the following error

      [10/27/2020 05:19:12:592 GMT] ConfigDirValidator.getDefaultValue(): Encountered exception: Invalid boundCount: -1
      com.sun.identity.agents.arch.AgentException: Invalid boundCount: -1

               at com.sun.identity.install.tools.util.xml.XMLDocument.initDocument(XMLDocument.java:497)

       The error as provided by the agent installer cannot accurately pinpoint where the fault is

      In some cases, the exception seem to indicate that the fault is in the web.xml ( last line before the Java exception ) when the issue really was in the server.xml

      Customers/Support engineer have done their due diligence in verifying their xml, which is working ( error free ) against the XML validator such as https://codebeautify.org/xmlvalidator.

      The xml validator could not find any validation error ( maybe less stringent )

      It is only after using some eyeballing that it is discovered that the issue was found in the server.xml. There is an extra "–>" ending comment tag.

      Perhaps the code can be improved to highlight

      #1. which xml file is having issue

      #2. which line is having issue in #1.
