      Description

      To reproduce:

      1) Install OpenAM 13.5
      2) Demonstrate updating the auditEnabled attribute on AuditService via ssoadm, by setting schema defaults:

      ./ssoadm set-attr-defs -s AuditService -u amadmin -f pwd.txt -t global -a auditEnabled=X

You can view the result on the AuditService legacy console page (Config -> Global -> Audit Logging).

      3) Save a different value for auditEnabled via the console.
      4) Changes via set-attr-defs no longer have any impact, the action of saving on the console has written auditEnabled to:

      dn: ou=default,ou=GlobalConfig,ou=1.0,ou=AuditService,ou=services,dc=openam,dc=forgerock,dc=org
      objectClass: organizationalUnit
      objectClass: sunServiceComponent
      objectClass: top
      sunKeyValue: auditEnabled=false
      ou: default
      entryUUID: 92006e39-573c-4039-bb48-1079b3f10866
      creatorsName: cn=Directory Manager,cn=Root DNs,cn=config
      createTimestamp: 20160731202729Z
      modifyTimestamp: 20160731203038Z
      modifiersName: cn=Internal Client,cn=Root DNs,cn=config

There does not seem to be any way to manipulate this via ssoadm.
