dsreplication configure was configuring replication for the base DNs provided with --baseDN (dc=example,dc=com as a the canonical example), but also for cn=schema and cn=admin data.
Now that we are rewriting dsreplication (OPENDJ-5762) to accommodate for more automation, we no longer have a strict equivalent for what dsreplication configure was doing.
We are relying on profiles to create the relevant replication domains (
OPENDJ-6649), or alternatively use dsconfig to create them.
The profiles work fine for application data (dc=example,dc=com). However it does nothing for cn=schema and cn=admin data. Since cn=admin data is about to go away (
OPENDJ-7152), only remains the case of cn=schema.
We have decided that:
- it would be simpler to create a replication domain for cn=schema, by default
- however, to keep compatibility in behaviour, the ds-empty docker image will not have a replication domain for cn=schema, because it is optimized for having an immutable schema (not replicated).
