Wrong or uncomplete error reported when creating a CSV connector

    • Type: Improvement

    • Priority: Minor
    • Resolution: Fixed

    • Component/s: CSV File Connector

    • Environment:
      OpenIDM 5.5
      java version "1.8.0_131"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_131-b11)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.131-b11, mixed mode)
      CentOS Linux release 7.4.1708 (Core)

When creating a new CSV connector from the admin UI with OpenIDM 5.5, using the parameters in the attached screenshot and the CSV file available at the link below, the UI reports the following error that can also be seen in the screenshot above:

"Error CSV file does not contain required Usuario3270 column"

However, the column is obviously present, at least in the header as well as in most (if not all of the) lines. So:

      • if that field really misses on at least one line, the error message should be modified to say "field" instead of "column" and ideally give the wrong line numbers. For example:

"Error CSV file does not contain required Usuario3270 on the following lines: .."

      • if the field is actually present on each line including the header, then the error message is really confusing and should be improved to give a better clue of what the root cause of the error is.

The CSV file can be downloaded here:
