      Description

      Consider this situation:

a source and target system have been reconcilied. Now one wants to run a second reconciliation where only a subset of source entries should be considered. In order to do so, the best option for performance reasons is to define a "sourceQuery" filter. By doing so, a couple of things look confusing:

      • by default, during the target phase of the reconciliation, OpenIDM will ignore the sourceQuery filter. It can result in entries which fall under the CONFIRMED situation, in spite they were out of the sourceQuery filter scope. These entries can thus not be easily distinguished from the ones that felt in the CONFIRMED situation and that are in the scope of the sourceQuery filter. A couple of mappings are needed to deal with that if one doesn't want to use the validSource property (which can be perceived in that case as a second filter, which is less obvious to maintain than a single filter defined in a sourceQuery property), were each mapping would be defined with the complementary sourceQuery filter of the other mapping, and where the target phase of the reconciliation would be possibly disabled in each mapping (unless there's a need to deal with target orphans).
      • In the admin UI, in spite a sourceQuery filter is defined, when running the reconciliation one can see that OpenIDM processes the whole set of entries, which can look confusing (even if one can see that some entries are only processed during the target phase of the reconciliation)

Given the situation above, it would make sense for the target phase of the reconciliation to by default not ignore the sourceQuery filter property. It would still be possible to manage target orphans in such a case as such entries would fall in a different situation from CONFIRMED.
